Terrified

Mid-tour leave steadily approaches, and I am terrified.

I am terrified that Mini-Sarge will not recognize his dad, and will treat him like every other stranger.
I am terrified that the entire time Sarge is home, his son will cling to me and not let him hold him.
I am terrified that Sarge will feel rejected, and will mope around the whole two weeks.

I expect some apprehension, and I believe that is normal, but ever since he left, our son has just hated to have anyone but me hold him. He's not so bad here at the house, but, it's still overwhelming.

I have a plan. I'm not sure yet if it'll actually do any good, but I'm going to try. Not only for Sarge, but for me, too. I will bawl like a baby if he rejects his dad.

Since he refuses to go to another person's house, I'm going to start making him (which, is totally what I have not been doing). For a short period at first, and then steadily increase it. A friend of mine has agreed to accommodate us. He hates going to her house, so I think it's probably the best venue, as bad as that sounds. If I can get him comfortable over there, around them, then, I think we'll be set. I'm hoping to recruit my SIL and a few other friends into my efforts, too, but I haven't asked yet.

Also, my kid is cooler than yours:

And that's all for today. Need to finish chatting with Sarge, who is threatening me harm because I used part of a Bon Jovi song as the title of his email for the day. :) Until next time!

  1. "Oh, we're halfway there" amirite? XD

Also, I don't think you need to worry. I think he'll know his Daddy. I understand you being apprehensive and worried, but there's a bond there that I don't think will just disappear.

ALSO: Your BG is ARGYLE! :D

  2. That song, yes, but actually the line was "Living on a prayer!"

I can't help but be worried. :/ We had his appointment yesterday, and the doctor told me he was borderline behind in his social development. He's good right now, but I need to keep on it.

I knew you'd like it. :D My St. Patrick's day door hanger thing had some argyle on it, and I was like, boom! that has to go on the blog. :D
